2024 in Review: A Year of Growth and Heat at Hot Thumb Pepper Company
As 2024 draws to a close, we’re reflecting on an incredible year of growth and spicy innovation at Hot Thumb Pepper Company. This year, we expanded our growing operation by adding 72 feet of above-ground garden boxes filled with five layers of rich, nutrient-packed material, including over 80 buckets of 30-year-plus aged yard compost. With these additions, our garden flourished, yielding about 200 to 240 pounds of vibrant, flavorful peppers. Among our harvest were two types of Jalapeños, Peach and regular Ghost Peppers, Carolina Reapers, Moldavian Hearts, Scotch Brains, Serranos, Aji Lemons, Thai peppers, Purple UFOs, four types of Habanero and our prized accidental hybrid Purple Pain (Jalapeño x Purple Ufo). There were a few surprises in the garden as well which I will talk about in later posts.
In the kitchen, our hot sauce lineup grew to a fiery 10 flavors, including these new and fan favorites like (new) Lil Pepper Stepper, Pineapple Bang Bang, (new) Mango Bang Bang, Blackberry Bang Bang, (new) Missriracha, Purple Pain, The Sauce Formerly Known as Purple Pain, Lemon Party, (new) James In The Spicy Peach, and Red-Headed Step-Child. Each sauce was crafted with a passion for bold, unique flavors, focusing on taste first. But we didn’t stop there—2024 saw the launch of our hot candy line and a few new spice blends, adding even more variety to our offerings. From sweet heat to smoky spice, we’re thrilled to share these creations with you. I really don’t want to give too much away, but 2025 already has so much in store. There is one new sauce fermenting now, and another I am still trying to figure out. There are also a couple brand-new products that are about to get started, that will feature our awesome pepper line.
This year, we hit the road to connect with our customers face-to-face, attending a wide range of local markets and events. From the Richmond Farmers Market and Lexington Farmers Market at Mama’s Eatery to the Ruby Car Show, The Bluechiligrass Festival, The Property Farms and McCallum’s Orchard, Fleatroit Junk City Vintage & Craft Show, and Heritage Markets Frankenmuth for their Christmas Show, we had an incredible time meeting spice lovers and sharing our products with the community. There really isn’t anything better than seeing someone’s face on that first sample of a sauce at a show/market. One last major milestone for us in 2024 was the launch of our website in December, allowing fans near and far to order their favorite Hot Thumb Pepper Company products online at www.hotthumbpeppercompany.com.
Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited to carry this momentum forward with even more spicy creations. We have so much sauce to make, new stuff in the works, and are planning to attend every market and event we can fit into our schedule. With the energy of a record-breaking 2024 behind us and the support of our amazing customers, the future is looking hotter than ever at Hot Thumb Pepper Company. Thank you for making this year unforgettable—we can’t wait to see what the next one brings.
